Vocabulary

Science - an organized way to study the natural world and understand its functions; to use evidence to learn about the natural world. Also, science can be considered to be a large body of knowledge.

Observation - "what you sense." Using your senses to gather information about the natural world.

Data - the information gathered from observation
a. Quantitative data - numbers (counting, measurments). "quantities."
b. Qualitative data - words (things that can't be easily counted or measured). "qualities."

Inference - "what you think" based on observations, experience, or prior knowledge.

Hypothesis - a logical explanation to a set of observations or a scientific question.

Qualities of a "good scientist" - open-mindedness, skepticism, honesty, curiosity, patience, logical, organized, and recognizes that science has limits.
